Duan Wu Festival, it is also known as Dragon Boat Festival. It falls on the fifth day of fifth month in Chinese Lunar Calendar. It always reminds me the mandarin text book during primary school days. That's the story of the famous Chinese scholar Qu Yuan who was a loyal minister serving the King of Chu. Qu Yuan drowned himself at the age of 37 in the Miluo River due to the sorrow from his sovereign and people over time. The people of Chu rushed to save him and searched for him with their boats but it was unsuccessful. The people began the tradition of throwing cooked rice into the river in hope that the fishes would not eat Qu Yuan's body if the fishes were not hungry. Hence, the tradition of wrapping rice in bamboo leaves to make dumpling (Zong Zi) and dragon boat festival began to commemorate Qu Yuan, the righteous man. (Wikepedia, 2010)

It's one of the favourite photos of mine in Kuantan trip. My friend was really excited to see this weights and told me:"You must capture this, we could hardly see this nowadays. It's so antique." Audrey has stood there for quite some time and tried to figure out the composition for this. I totally out of idea until I walked up from the stairs the second day. This must be a little gym room for the owner in his 60s. He has six pax still! I would say it's enjoying to listen to his series of 1960s-70s rock n roll songs from his radio. He must be a hot young man once upon a time.

Lembing Town, It was a windy and freezing Sunday; mainly due to the moonsoon season in January. It's a relaxing small town and so much different from the rushing and stressful city. They wake up early and have breakfast together. Aunties and uncles have some gathering and chit chatting moment. We didn't see many young men and women in their 20s except us in our mid 20s. Perhaps, the young one is going to bigger town for work opportunity.

They said baby tend to be so much of themselves doing the things they would love to, following their own will and feelings. You're so much of yourself. Wouldn't it so comfortable that we are ourselves all of the time? There is always a "but" when we are growing up. Sometimes, we look back and forth of ourselves, we are no longer ourselves anymore. Perhaps, the external environment is one of the factors that cause changes?

Light is not only one of the main sources of photography but also one of the most important sources to the earth. It provides some sense of survival and hopes to everything in the earth after darkness. I still remember when my sifu taught me about it during a camping trip in Gunung Nuang last year. He told me when light falls on the huge fallen tree trunk, it would be a nice place for photography. Have you ever thought of why some of the photos we capture look so dull without sense of liveness or freshness? I did ponder about that question once upon a time. My sifu gave me some hints on this. Perhaps, that's the reason why I keep chasing after the light nowadays. Photography is all about light.

There are some people laughing over the other riders. There are some people feeling proud that it's not scary at all. There are part of the riders feeling scary but keeping quiet. There are riders screaming outloud for fun sake!

I flipped through the Camera Magazine this morning and read the setting of almost all photos are using Auto White Balance (AWB). I was excited seeing it as my friend and I have different opinion towards custom white balance and AWB. I used to use custom white balance as most of the website suggested auto white balance is not as good. A photographer taught me to use AWB all the time! and I use AWB all the time now but will change when necessary! What about your opinion?

Depth of field (DOF) is the amount of distance between the nearest and farthest objects that appear in acceptably sharp focus in a photograph . It's a personal preference whether you would love to blur or not to blur. This is related to Aperture that is one of the exposure triangle elements. The biggest the aperture which is the smallest amount of F such as F1.8, F2, F1.4 etc. It will have a narrower DOF which requires a critical focus point. The smaller aperture which is the bigger F such as F8, F16, F22 etc will provide greater DOF. This means that we can get everything in sharper focus.
