Zoo Taiping is a major zoological park located at Bukit Larut, Taiping, Perak. Established in 1961, Taiping Zoo is the oldest Zoo in Malaysia. Most of us think zoo is for family and children, not thing special although it is the only zoo in North Malaysia. If you think that way, you are absolutely wrong. This is a GREAT zoo.

 

Visiting hours at Taiping Zoo are 8:30am - 6:30pm daily and 8:00PM - 11:00PM for night safari every day including public holiday. This was the first zoo in Malaysia that introduced night safari. While for the entrance fee, adults at RM 16 while children (3-12 years) RM 10.

What’s surprise me is video camera is free of charge, COOL…save me a couple of bucks although I brought along with my video camera and Nikon D60. We reached there around 2PM, weather not turn nice, sky very dark, rain started. But it stop after an hour, so I still got luck and managed to snap some nice photos.

So what can you expect there? The Zoo Taiping is big, it’s easy to spend half day there. For photographer like me, it’s a great day out. In here, most of the animals come from tropical areas of the world, so you won’t find any polar bears or penguins. However, tigers, lions, elephants, rhinos and chimpanzees are all there.

To end our trip there, we managed to have a group photo with Mr. Elephant..I guess he is the prince. :)..cause he seem like girls..hehe..
