Penang Laksa is one of the best known food around Penang. A bowl of steamed spaghetti-size rice vermicelli is first generously garnished with sliced vegetables such as cucumber, red chilies, lettuce, mint, pineapple and pink bunga kantan (ginger buds).

So after a good rest on Tune Hotel Penang, we woke up around 7:30 am and we decided to search for Penang Laksa by foot. Since the hotel was in the downtown area that near Komtar Penang, it was very convenient for us to explore by foot.

A nice street view if you walked by foot, suitable for street photography :)

By walking toward Komtar Penang direction, few minutes walked along Jalan Burma, we passed by the famous Kuan Yin Temple (Goddess of Mercy) and we saw a coffee shop opposite the road.

A very ordinary shop, but we found inside have few stalls which selling Laksa, Penang Hokkien Mee, steam rice roll and etc. Since a bit hungry already, so we decided to give it a try.

The shop full of local, majority old folks, so I guess the food must be nice. Not sure you agreed with me or not, usually famous food spotlight for tourists, it not really taste nice, such as Laksa near Kek Lok Shi, and Rojak near Komtar, although famous, but the taste was so so only. Maybe the balance of quantity and quality can't be remained any more.

Ok, backed to the story, we ordered a bowl of Penang Laksa, Penang Hokkien Mee and a cup of white coffee. The price for the dishes are very cheap, only cost RM 2.50 for small bowl and RM 3.00 for big bowl.

The Hokkien Mee served first. Till this round, I only knew Penang Hokkien Mee actually is the prawn mee we used to call at Kuala Lumpur. It tasted ok, not very great nor bad.

A few minute later, our Laksa served, and really unexpected, the Laksa not only looked good and it tasted superb. The auntie was very polite and friendly, not sure she saw me holding a DSLR camera and snap around when I reached, she asked us how the taste of her Laksa. With a honest answer, me and SW told her, it really taste nice, and we loved the decoration of it. Especially with the pink bunga kantan on top.

Enjoy it with a hot white coffee..:)..really enjoying the foods there..

Auntie seem very happy and explained a lot on how she prepared the Laksa, she brought us the bunga kantan for us to snap as well : ) .

SMILE auntie..with a thumb up..let's do a bit advertising here :)

She suggested us to bring some Laksa backed to Kuala Lumpur, a good suggestion, I never thought that before, so we asked auntie to pack 2 Laksa for us to bring back.

Happily "Ta Bao" (pack) our Laksa for my mum, she loved it very much.

The shop located at 67, Jalan Burma, Penang. It opened from 7:30 am till 7:30 pm, Sunday closed. So if you stay at Tune Hotel Penang, do remember to visit this shop.

Hope to help nice auntie to promote a bit here because she was very friendly and her Laksa really taste good. I feel happy as well, another way using my photography skill to make other happy, did you try this before? Maybe you can give it a try next, who know the boss will give you a free meals :).
